Birds of Apley Woods
Because of the varying habitats here, a wide range of birds can be seen, from the tiny Wren and rare Goldgrest, the much larger Buzzard and Canadian Goose.
Not all these birds nest here. In summer visitors from Africa, Swallows and Willow Warblers can be seen feasting on the insects that thrive in the woods and pools. In winter, the Scandinavian Siskin can be seen feeding.
Among the resident birds, the most frequent seen are robins, blackbirds, Bluetits and magpies, though many more can be heard, especially Woodpeckers.
